Charge to the Core Implementation Committee
The Core Implementation Committee (CIC) is charged with overseeing the implementation of the new TCU Core Curriculum. The members of the CIC will be approved by the Faculty Senate and will function under the oversight of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee (FSEC). One of the members of the CIC will also be a member of the FSEC. The CIC will give periodic reports to the Faculty Senate and the Faculty Assembly. The CIC will have the authority to modify the dates given on the roadmap, as necessary.
The specific tasks of the CIC will include
- working with appropriate university personnel to finish the development of the HMV&V outcomes, action steps and assessment plan and vetting process.
- working with the Academic Deans to finish the development of the Humanities, Social Science, Natural Science, Fine Arts, and Essential Competencies outcomes, action steps, assessment plan and vetting process.
- developing a charter for, and suggesting the initial members of, the HMV&V Committee.
- developing the process by which membership on the HMV&V Committee will be determined in subsequent years and clarifying the committee’s relationship to the Faculty Senate.
- working with the Colleges and Registrar’s Office to develop procedures for numbering courses.
- working with appropriate university personnel to solve the problems associated with the transition from the old to the new core. Specifically, the committee will develop a plan to facilitate advising and degree planning for 2003 and 2004 first-year students and transfer students.
- developing a plan to maintain oversight of the marketing of the new core. The first announcement materials (admissions, publications, etc...) for the new core will be reviewed by the CIC for accuracy and tone and must be passed by the CIC before distribution to the public.
